Damn! I started this awhile ago, hit a wall with it…..not sure what direction to take, but finally decided to wrap it up today. Another small piece, 5 3/4 x 4 3/4 inches. I used acrylic and prismacolor pencil, topped off with Golden GAC 500 varnish, then worked back into with more acrylic. Wasn’t sure what to do with the back ground. Still a chance I will rework it.

Hey, I was recently asked to participate in the Art After Dark show. The show is on April 16th @ The Tampa Museum of Art, from 8pm-11pm. The show has 20 local artist participating and all artists have picked a charity to donate proceeds of any sales. I have picked MS as my charity. Very excited about it. a bit nervous…..never shown anything before. Here are a few images of the paintings that I will be showing. I was asked to do a larger piece, minimum size 16×20. I worked on this larger piece for about 3 weeks, killed it and asked if I could show 2 smaller pieces instead. I don’t usually paint large pieces. The 2 pieces that I will be showing are 5 1/2 x 7 inches and the other is 5×5 inches. Thanks to Chad and Suzie Cardoza for inviting me and making an exception on the size of my piece….(that didn’t sound right).

This painting was made with prismacolor, pastel, acrylic and GAC100 varnish. I started this painting when living in Atlanta. I never intended for it to pan out, just did a quick sketch and was very hesitant about what medium to use. The composition is a bit cramped because of the lack of initial planning. I worked the hell out of it, off and on for awhile, until I could at least live with the result.

I was recently invited to participate in the Brownstones to Red Dirt Postcard Art Benefit. There are about 160 amazing artists that participated in this benefit. Here is some more info about the benefit……..
Two colleagues at Blue Sky Studios, David LaMattina and Chad Walker, have created a feature-length documentary about a pen pal program between a group of at-risk sixth graders living in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn and orphans from the war living in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This Postcard Art project is an extension of the their film “Brownstones To Red Dirt” which features children from both schools. The kids in both places have inspired us all to want to do more and so we’re putting together an art auction of original postcards based around the same central theme of the film in a fundraising effort to build a school for the orphans in Freetown, Sierra Leone and create a library for the youth at their school in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
Every artist was sent a 4×5 inch wooden postcard to paint on. I had a lot of fun making this postcard and feel very honored to be a part of this benefit. The piece I made is titled “The Tooth Collector” There will be an online auction starting March 6 – 13. Please check out all the amazing postcards @……… www.btorpostcards.blogspot.com
